📌 Key Responsibilities

• Issue, receive, and track books using library management software and maintain accurate circulation records.
• Organise reading programmes, book fairs, and library activities to promote a culture of reading among students.
• Assist teachers in locating reference materials, curriculum-related books, and digital learning resources.
• Maintain digital and physical catalogue systems using Dewey Decimal Classification or library software.
• Coordinate book procurement and recommend new additions to the library collection based on curriculum needs.
• Conduct library orientation sessions for new students and train them on library usage rules and catalogue navigation.

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• B.Lib.Sc. (Bachelor of Library Science) from a recognised university is the primary qualification required.
• M.Lib.Sc. (Master of Library Science) holders are preferred for senior school librarian positions.
• Knowledge of Dewey Decimal Classification system and MARC cataloguing standards is essential.
• Experience with library management software such as KOHA, NewGenLib, or similar platforms is preferred.
• Ability to manage a school library independently including procurement, processing, and circulation.
• Strong interest in children's and young adult literature to guide student reading recommendations.
• Basic computer and internet skills for digital catalogue maintenance and online resource access.
