📌 Key Responsibilities

• Teach Mental Health Nursing theory covering psychiatric disorders, therapeutic communication, mental status examination, de-escalation, psychopharmacology nursing, and psychiatric rehabilitation
• Supervise student postings in psychiatry wards, OPD, de-addiction units, and community mental health centres affiliated to the college
• Conduct practical sessions on therapeutic communication techniques, MSE (Mental Status Examination), and psychiatric nursing care planning
• Teach nursing care for common psychiatric conditions: schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, and dementia
• Guide students in de-escalation skills, crisis intervention, and patient safety in psychiatry settings
• Organize mental health awareness activities: World Mental Health Day, suicide prevention awareness, and anti-stigma campaigns on campus
• Set and evaluate internal assessments, practical evaluations, and university examination papers in Mental Health Nursing

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• M.Sc. Nursing with Mental Health Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing speciality from an INC-recognized institution
• Active TNMC registration mandatory
• 2 - 8 Years of combined psychiatric nursing and teaching experience
• Strong therapeutic communication, empathy, and counselling skills for patient and student interaction
• Knowledge of psychopharmacology, mental health legislation (Mental Healthcare Act 2017), and psychiatric rehabilitation principles
• Experience supervising students in psychiatry ward, de-addiction, and community mental health settings
• Crisis intervention training and de-escalation certification preferred
• Good Tamil and English communication skills for team coordination and client interaction in Chennai.
