📋 Job Description

Jobzi is sourcing qualified candidates for Head of Department positions in Chennai private engineering colleges. This role is with an AICTE-approved self-financing engineering college affiliated to Anna University or another recognized technical university, offering a structured academic career with NBA accreditation support and faculty development programmes.

📌 Key Responsibilities

• Lead all academic and administrative functions of the engineering department including curriculum planning, timetable, and faculty management
• Coordinate NBA accreditation preparation for the department including SAR, OBE implementation, and CO-PO attainment documentation
• Chair departmental Board of Studies, manage curriculum updates, and propose syllabi revisions to Anna University or the autonomous committee
• Mentor faculty in research publication, FDP participation, and career progression from Assistant to Associate Professor
• Build industry partnerships for sponsored projects, internships, expert lectures, and student placements in core engineering firms
• Monitor student academic performance, attendance trends, arrear management, and graduation outcomes
• Represent the department at Academic Council, Administrative Committee, and IQAC meetings

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• Ph.D. in the relevant engineering subject with extensive publication record
• 10 - 20 Years of engineering college teaching experience with at least 4 years in HOD or equivalent leadership role
• Strong knowledge of NBA and NAAC accreditation processes, OBE implementation, and CO-PO mapping systems
• Demonstrated track record in research, funded projects, and PhD/M.E. supervision
• Experience managing a large department (15-30 faculty, 300-900 students) across UG and PG programmes
• Excellent communication and leadership skills for faculty management and industry liaison
• GATE qualification in the relevant engineering branch is valued
