📋 Job Description

Jobzi is sourcing qualified candidates for Library Assistant positions in Chennai private engineering colleges. This role is with an AICTE-approved self-financing engineering college affiliated to Anna University or another recognized technical university, offering a structured academic career with NBA accreditation support and faculty development programmes.

📌 Key Responsibilities

• Classify and catalogue technical books, journals, and reference materials using Dewey Decimal Classification adapted for engineering libraries
• Manage KOHA library management system for book issue, return, renewal, and OPAC maintenance
• Handle INFLIBNET N-LIST access, IEEE Xplore, Springer, and Elsevier subscription-based databases for faculty and student research
• Manage periodical subscriptions including ASCE, ASME, ACM, IEEE, and Elsevier technical journals
• Conduct periodic stock verification and manage book weeding and replacement processes
• Assist students and faculty in literature survey, citation management, and research database navigation
• Maintain library for NAAC and NBA accreditation documentation requirements

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• B.Lib.I.Sc., MLISc, or TNPGDL (Tamil Nadu Postgraduate Diploma in Library Science)
• 0 - 3 Years of library experience in an engineering college or technical institution
• Proficiency in KOHA Library Management System or similar library software
• Knowledge of Dewey Decimal Classification for technical and engineering subjects
• Familiarity with INFLIBNET N-LIST, Shodhganga, and engineering research databases (IEEE Xplore, Springer)
• Good computer proficiency and interpersonal skills for faculty and student support
• Awareness of Anti-Plagiarism tools (iThenticate, Turnitin) for student project and thesis support
