📌 Key Responsibilities

• Operate the production sound recording kit on Tamil film and OTT sets to capture clean, broadcast-quality dialogue and production sound at each location
• Manage the boom microphone or supervise the boom operator to achieve the best possible sound pickup for each shot and scene setup
• Set up and manage wireless lavalier microphone systems for cast members, monitoring levels and checking for radio frequency interference before each take
• Monitor audio levels on the mixer console throughout each take and communicate feedback on sound quality to the director and AD team
• Maintain detailed sound reports for every take, recording microphone type, room tone notes, and any dialogue or ambient sound issues flagged for re-recording
• Record room tone, ambient tracks, and wild lines at each location to provide the sound design team with reference material for post-production
• Co-ordinate with the DOP and gaffer to manage the boom microphone's position relative to camera framing and lighting equipment
• Ensure all recording equipment is maintained, tested, and packed correctly at the end of each shooting day for the protection of rental gear

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• 0 to 4 years of experience as a sound recordist or boom operator on Tamil film, OTT, or ad film productions
• Diploma in Sound Engineering or Sound Production from a recognised institute with practical location recording knowledge
• Proficiency in operating professional location sound recording equipment including Zaxcom, Sound Devices, or Lectrosonics systems
• Strong understanding of microphone types, polar patterns, and placement techniques for capturing clean production dialogue
• Ability to monitor audio quality in real time during takes and identify issues such as background noise, clipping, and clothing rustle immediately
• Good physical stamina for boom operation on long shooting days and ability to work in varied location environments including outdoor and studio
• Basic knowledge of Pro Tools or Reaper for reviewing and organising recorded production sound files before handoff to the post sound team
• Good Tamil and English communication skills for team coordination and client interaction in Chennai.
