📋 Job Description

Jobzi is sourcing qualified candidates for Student Counselor positions in Chennai private engineering colleges. This role is with an AICTE-approved self-financing engineering college affiliated to Anna University or another recognized technical university, offering a structured academic career with NBA accreditation support and faculty development programmes.

📌 Key Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counselling to engineering students dealing with academic pressure, arrear stress, peer conflicts, and family challenges
• Conduct orientation programmes for first-year students on engineering college life, academic expectations, and time management
• Identify at-risk students through attendance monitoring, arrear reports, and faculty referrals and provide proactive support
• Organize stress management workshops, mental health awareness sessions, and anti-ragging programmes
• Coordinate with parents, hostel wardens, and faculty mentors on student welfare and disciplinary matters
• Maintain confidential counselling records for NAAC student support documentation
• Refer serious mental health cases to clinical psychologists and liaise with external support services

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• M.Sc. Psychology, M.A. Counselling Psychology, or Master of Social Work (MSW) from a recognized university
• 1 - 6 Years of counselling experience in an educational institution; engineering college experience preferred
• Understanding of academic stress specific to engineering students: arrears, backlog, placement anxiety, branch mismatch
• Good empathy, active listening, and non-judgmental counselling approach
• Tamil and English communication skills for diverse student population from urban and rural backgrounds
• Awareness of anti-ragging norms (UGC regulations), grievance redressal, and POSH Act requirements
• Willingness to be available for crisis situations beyond regular working hours
