📋 Job Description

Jobzi is sourcing qualified candidates for Workshop Instructor (Mechanical) positions in Chennai private engineering colleges. This role is with an AICTE-approved self-financing engineering college affiliated to Anna University or another recognized technical university, offering a structured academic career with NBA accreditation support and faculty development programmes.

📌 Key Responsibilities

• Conduct workshop practicals for first and second year engineering students covering fitting, welding, carpentry, and lathe operations
• Operate and demonstrate machine tools including centre lathe, milling machine, drilling machine, and shaper
• Maintain all workshop equipment and tools in safe and operational condition
• Enforce workshop safety rules, ensure proper use of PPE (personal protective equipment), and prevent accidents
• Prepare raw materials, job pieces, and tools for student practical exercises well in advance
• Assess student workshop records, practical performance, and viva readiness under faculty supervision
• Coordinate with the maintenance team for machine repairs, lubrication, and preventive maintenance

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, ITI in Machinist/Fitter/Welder, or B.E. Mechanical from a recognized institution
• 1 - 6 Years of workshop or manufacturing industry experience preferred
• Proficiency in lathe operation, welding (arc, gas), fitting, carpentry, and sheet metal work
• Strong knowledge of machine tool operation and workshop safety standards
• Trade certificate from National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) preferred
• Ability to explain practical workshop operations clearly to first-year engineering students
• Experience in a foundry, machine shop, or engineering workshop is a strong advantage
