📌 Key Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical examinations and provide medical care for birds, reptiles, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, and other exotic pets
• Diagnose and treat species-specific diseases using appropriate drug dosing and routes
• Perform minor surgical and diagnostic procedures adapted for exotic species
• Advise owners on species-specific husbandry, nutrition, housing, and enrichment
• Interpret exotic animal radiographs, blood parameters, and culture results in species-specific context
• Maintain clinical records with species-specific documentation of examination findings and treatments
• Educate the clinical team on exotic animal handling, restraint, and emergency protocols

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• BVSc. and AH with VCI registration and a minimum of three years of clinical experience with exotic species
• Documented experience in avian, reptile, and small mammal medicine and surgery
• Knowledge of species-specific pharmacology, drug dosing, and anaesthesia protocols for exotic animals
• Competency in safe handling and restraint of birds, reptiles, and small exotic mammals
• Familiarity with common exotic animal diseases including metabolic bone disease, psittacosis, and chelonian respiratory infections
• Ability to counsel pet owners on exotic species husbandry and preventive care
• Participation in exotic animal medicine continuing education programmes is an advantage
• Good Tamil and English communication skills for team coordination and client interaction in Coimbatore.
