📌 Key Responsibilities

• Wash and sanitise all crockery, cutlery, glassware, pots, pans, and cooking equipment used in kitchen operations.
• Operate commercial dishwashing machines correctly and maintain hygiene standards for all items exiting the wash section.
• Clean kitchen floors, surfaces, cooking equipment exteriors, and storage areas throughout the shift and at close.
• Dispose of kitchen waste correctly into segregated bins and transfer waste to the designated collection point as required.
• Maintain an adequate stock of cleaning chemicals, dishwashing detergents, and sanitisers and report depletion to the supervisor.
• Handle cleaning chemicals safely using correct dilutions and personal protective equipment including gloves and aprons.
• Support kitchen helpers and cooks by delivering clean utensils and equipment promptly during high-volume service periods.

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• 8th standard pass minimum; 10th pass preferred by most organised restaurant chains in Chennai.
• No prior experience required; willingness to perform physical cleaning tasks in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Physical fitness and stamina to stand throughout an eight to ten hour shift in a hot and wet kitchen area.
• Understanding of basic food safety hygiene and the importance of clean utensils in a food preparation environment.
• Ability to handle cleaning chemicals safely and willingness to wear protective equipment as required.
• Reliability and punctuality are the most valued attributes for kitchen steward roles in restaurant chains.
• Willingness to work morning, afternoon, or evening shifts including weekends and public holidays.
• Good Tamil and English communication skills for team coordination and client interaction in Chennai.
