📋 Job Description

Jobzi is sourcing qualified candidates for Library Assistant positions in Chennai private arts and science colleges. This role is with a self-financing arts and science college affiliated to the University of Madras or another recognized Tamil Nadu university, offering a stable academic career with NAAC-accredited quality standards and faculty development support.

📌 Key Responsibilities

• Classify and catalogue new books using Dewey Decimal Classification and maintain the library catalogue
• Issue, return, and renew books through the library management system (KOHA or equivalent)
• Maintain OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) and assist students and faculty in locating resources
• Manage periodical subscriptions, journals, and e-resources for faculty and student access
• Organize the library stacks, ensure proper shelving, and conduct periodic stock verification
• Handle library membership registration for students and staff each academic year
• Assist with digital library initiatives including e-book access, INFLIBNET N-LIST, and online databases

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• B.Lib.I.Sc., MLISc, or TNPGDL (Tamil Nadu Postgraduate Diploma in Library Science)
• 0 - 3 Years of library experience in a college or educational institution; freshers considered
• Proficiency in KOHA Library Management System or similar software
• Knowledge of Dewey Decimal Classification and cataloguing procedures
• Familiarity with INFLIBNET N-LIST access for e-resources
• Good interpersonal skills for student and faculty service
• Basic computer proficiency including MS Office and internet
