📌 Key Responsibilities

• Own the transport and fleet P and L for the 3PL or logistics company's road freight operations including revenue, freight cost, and EBITDA accountability
• Lead a team of transport coordinators, fleet supervisors, and driver managers to deliver daily dispatch and delivery commitments across all client accounts
• Design and optimize the route network for full truck load, less-than-truck-load, and last mile delivery operations to minimize cost per consignment
• Manage the carrier and transporter empanelment process including rate negotiations, contract management, and performance evaluation for the approved vendor panel
• Oversee TMS (transport management system) implementation, adoption, and data quality for consignment booking, GPS tracking, and freight invoice processing
• Ensure CMVR, MV Act, and Tamil Nadu transport regulatory compliance across the company's owned fleet and contracted carrier network
• Drive freight cost reduction through load optimization, lane consolidation, carrier mix rationalization, and fuel efficiency improvement programs
• Prepare monthly transport MIS covering fleet utilization, freight cost per tonne-km, carrier SLA compliance, and safety incident summary for senior management

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• Graduate or MBA from a recognized institution
• 5 - 12 Years of experience in transport operations with at least 3 years in a transport manager or senior fleet management role
• Proven track record of managing transport P and L and delivering freight cost optimization in a road logistics or 3PL environment
• Strong knowledge of carrier management, transporter contracts, spot rate negotiation, and freight invoice verification processes
• Experience implementing or operating a TMS (transport management system) for consignment booking, tracking, and reporting
• Good understanding of CMVR regulations, fitness certificate, permit, and weight restriction compliance for commercial vehicles in Tamil Nadu
• Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills for coordinating across operations, client, and finance teams on transport-related matters
• Good Tamil and English communication skills for team coordination and client interaction in Chennai.
