📌 Key Responsibilities

• Collect used instruments from treatment rooms after each patient appointment, transport them safely to the sterilisation area, and initiate the pre-cleaning decontamination process.
• Perform pre-sterilisation cleaning of contaminated dental instruments by ultrasonic cleaning or manual scrubbing, rinsing under running water, and inspecting for visible soiling.
• Load cleaned and dried instruments into autoclave pouches, seal using a heat sealer, and label each pouch with the sterilisation date, cycle number, and expiry date.
• Operate gravity displacement and vacuum autoclave cycles as per the manufacturer protocol, record cycle parameters including temperature, pressure, and time in the sterilisation log.
• Perform weekly biological indicator (Geobacillus stearothermophilus spore test) checks on the autoclave and maintain a log of results for infection control records.
• Prepare and replenish chemical disinfectant solutions such as glutaraldehyde for heat-sensitive instruments and chair surfaces, following manufacturer dilution instructions and contact time.
• Segregate and package biomedical waste from treatment rooms including contaminated gloves, gauze, extracted teeth, and sharps as per CPCB biomedical waste management rules.

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• 12th pass from a recognised board with a certificate in dental clinic sterilisation techniques or infection control from a vocational or dental training institute.
• Knowledge of sterilisation methods applicable to dental instruments including steam autoclave, chemical sterilisation, and dry heat oven for specific material types.
• Ability to operate autoclave equipment, interpret cycle indicator strips, and document sterilisation logs accurately for infection control audit readiness.
• Understanding of pre-cleaning requirements including ultrasonic bath use, manual decontamination procedures, and drying protocols before instrument packing.
• Familiarity with biomedical waste segregation categories applicable to dental clinics including sharps, clinical waste, amalgam, and extracted teeth disposal.
• Attention to detail in verifying pouch integrity, chemical indicator colour change, and biological indicator results before releasing sterilised instruments for use.
• Physical fitness to manage the repetitive handling of instrument trays, autoclave loading, and chemical disinfectant preparation throughout the working day.
• Good Tamil and English communication skills for team coordination and client interaction in Coimbatore.
