📋 Job Description

Jobzi is sourcing qualified candidates for Bar Bender / Steel Fixer positions in Coimbatore's private Construction Company sector. 📌 Key Responsibilities

• Cut and bend TMT steel bars to dimensions specified in the bar bending schedule using manual or machine bending tools
• Fabricate stirrups, links, and lateral ties for column and beam cage assembly as per structural drawings
• Assemble reinforcement cages for columns, beams, and shear walls with correct bar spacing, cover, and lap splice positions
• Lay slab reinforcement in correct grid pattern with appropriate cover blocks and chair supports for top and bottom layers
• Read bar bending schedules and reinforcement layout drawings to identify correct bar diameters, shapes, and quantities
• Maintain neatness of reinforcement stacking and bar storage to avoid mix-up between different diameter bars
• Follow safety protocols including PPE usage and safe handling of steel bars at heights and near formwork

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• ITI in Steel Fabrication or equivalent construction experience; candidates with strong site reinforcement experience and no ITI are also considered
• 1-5 years of experience in TMT bar bending, cutting, and reinforcement placement in residential or commercial building construction
• Ability to read bar bending schedules and identify bar shapes, diameters, and splice positions from structural drawings
• Skilled in fabricating stirrups, column and beam cages, and slab reinforcement to specified bar spacing and cover requirements
• Knowledge of cover block placement, overlap lengths, and common structural reinforcement detailing practices
• Physical fitness for site work including handling of heavy TMT bars, working at height, and operating bar bending machines
• Good speed and accuracy in executing reinforcement work to daily productivity targets set by the site supervisor
• Good Tamil and English communication skills for team coordination and client interaction in Coimbatore.
