📌 Key Responsibilities

• Track container movements across terminals, CFS, and inland container depots using the port community system or shipping line operations platform
• Coordinate with terminal operators for container gate-in, gate-out, and yard positioning to ensure timely availability for loading or delivery
• Manage equipment interchange records for container handover between shipping lines, container terminals, and CFS operators
• Update container status events including vessel arrival, discharge, customs clearance, delivery, and return in the shipping line operations system
• Process EDI messages for container booking confirmations, bay plan updates, and customs manifest submissions to port and customs authorities
• Manage empty container repositioning by coordinating with the depot and terminal for empty pick-up, return, and repositioning instructions
• Resolve container detention and demurrage disputes by verifying container movement timelines against free period allowances
• Prepare daily container operations MIS covering import and export container counts, yard dwell times, and pending delivery or return actions

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• Graduate degree in Commerce, Science, or any stream from a recognized institution
• 0 - 3 Years of experience in container operations, terminal coordination, or shipping line back-office roles; freshers with port or shipping training are considered
• Basic knowledge of container tracking processes, port community systems, and equipment interchange documentation
• Familiarity with container types including 20-foot, 40-foot, and high-cube containers and their depot and yard management processes
• Understanding of detention and demurrage concepts and the free period structure applicable to import containers at Chennai Port
• Basic EDI or data entry skills for container status updates and vessel bay plan processing
• Willingness to coordinate with terminal, CFS, and depot contacts under vessel schedule and container availability time pressure
• Good Tamil and English communication skills for team coordination and client interaction in Chennai.
