📌 Key Responsibilities

• Identify and approach new shipper accounts in the assigned Chennai territory through cold calls, referrals, trade contacts, and industry events
• Prepare and submit competitive spot rate quotations for ocean freight to exporters and importers based on rate sheets from the trade lane team
• Follow up on quotations, negotiate rates and surcharges within authorized bands, and convert inquiries into booking confirmations
• Onboard new shipper accounts by completing KYC documentation, credit application forms, and commercial agreements as per company procedures
• Manage the assigned customer portfolio through regular visits, calls, and email follow-ups to ensure retention and volume growth
• Report pipeline, bookings booked, and lost quotation reasons in the CRM system to keep the sales funnel updated for management review
• Coordinate with the operations and documentation teams to ensure first shipment execution is smooth and the new account has a positive experience
• Stay updated on trade lane rate movements, surcharge changes, and carrier service updates to advise customers accurately on freight economics

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• Graduate degree from a recognized institution
• 0 - 3 Years of experience in freight sales, shipping line marketing, or logistics commercial roles; freshers with strong communication and commercial drive considered
• Basic understanding of ocean freight rate components including base rate, BAF, CAF, PSS, and THC applicable to export and import shipments
• Familiarity with spot quotation processes and the role of rate sheets, tariffs, and trade lane rate authority in freight pricing
• Good communication and negotiation skills in Tamil and English for customer meetings and rate negotiations
• Willingness to undertake regular field visits to exporters, importers, and freight forwarders in the Chennai territory
• CRM tool familiarity or willingness to learn for pipeline management, call reporting, and quotation tracking
• Good Tamil and English communication skills for team coordination and client interaction in Chennai.
