📌 Key Responsibilities
- Prepare operating theatres before surgical procedures including draping, instrument trolley setup, and equipment checks
- Maintain strict sterile field during surgical procedures and assist scrub nurses with instrument management
- Operate and maintain autoclave, steam sterilizers, and plasma sterilizers for surgical instrument processing
- Assist anesthesiologists with anesthesia machine setup, airway equipment, and patient positioning
- Manage OT biomedical waste disposal and ensure infection control protocols are followed during and after procedures
- Count and verify surgical instruments, swabs, and needles with scrub nurse before and after each procedure
- Maintain OT equipment including electrosurgical units, surgical lights, and operating tables in working condition
🎓 Qualifications and Requirements
- B.Sc. OT Technology or Diploma in Operation Theatre Technique from a recognized institution
- 1 - 5 Years of OT technician experience in a hospital operating theatre
- Good knowledge of surgical instrument names, sterile technique, and OT workflow
- Familiarity with autoclave operation, sterility indicators, and biomedical waste management
- Physical stamina for long hours of standing during surgical procedures
- Team player with ability to anticipate surgeon and scrub nurse needs during operations
- BLS/BCLS certification preferred
