📌 Key Responsibilities

• Process freight invoices issued to exporters and importers for ocean freight, terminal handling charges, documentation fees, and allied charges using Tally or the company's shipping ERP
• Calculate and raise demurrage and detention invoices for import containers that exceed free period limits based on container event dates from the operations system
• Verify incoming freight invoices from shipping lines, port agents, and transport vendors against rate agreements and approved purchase orders before posting for payment
• Post all revenue and expense entries accurately in Tally or the shipping accounting system and reconcile ledgers at month-end
• Follow up with debtors for outstanding freight receivables and escalate overdue accounts to the finance manager with aging analysis
• Apply correct GST rates for freight services including ocean freight zero-rating for export, IGST on import services, and GST on domestic shipping and logistics charges
• Coordinate with the banking team for remittances to foreign shipping line principals and verify incoming fund receipts against agency commission statements
• Prepare monthly shipping accounts MIS covering revenue, outstanding debtors, vendor payables, and GST liability for the finance manager and management

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• B.Com degree from a recognized institution
• 0 - 3 Years of experience in freight accounts, shipping finance, or logistics billing; freshers with B.Com and Tally proficiency are considered
• Proficiency in Tally ERP for accounting entries, invoice processing, and ledger reconciliation in a shipping or logistics company
• Understanding of ocean freight invoicing terminology including base freight, BAF, CAF, THC, documentation fees, and demurrage and detention charges
• Basic knowledge of GST applicability for freight services including export ocean freight zero-rating, IGST on import services, and reverse charge on transport
• Good numerical accuracy for freight invoice verification, demurrage calculation, and accounts receivable aging analysis
• Ability to coordinate with operations and customer service teams to resolve invoice disputes and obtain supporting data for billing and payment processing
• Good Tamil and English communication skills for team coordination and client interaction in Chennai.
