📌 Key Responsibilities

• Acquire diagnostic quality 12-lead ECG recordings from outpatient patients referred by cardiologists, physicians, and pre-operative assessment clinics.
• Position limb and precordial electrodes correctly on patients, ensuring good skin preparation and lead contact to minimise baseline wander and movement artefacts.
• Identify and troubleshoot common ECG artefacts including muscle tremor, alternating current interference, and lead reversal before finalising the recording.
• Set up Holter monitors on patients requiring 24-hour ambulatory ECG monitoring, provide patient diary instructions, and download recordings after the monitoring period.
• Assist cardiologists during treadmill exercise stress tests by monitoring the patient during the Bruce protocol, acquiring ECG tracings at each stage, and assisting in emergencies.
• Recognise critical rhythm patterns such as acute ST elevation, complete heart block, and ventricular tachycardia and immediately alert the duty physician.
• Maintain ECG machines by performing daily function checks, replacing electrodes and paper stock, and logging equipment faults for biomedical engineering attention.

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• Completion of an ECG Technician course or GNM/ANM nursing qualification with formal ECG training and practical recording experience.
• Proficiency in 12-lead ECG electrode placement including correct precordial lead positioning for V1 through V6 and accurate limb lead placement.
• Ability to identify and correct common ECG artefacts including baseline wander, muscle tremor, AC interference, and lead reversal errors.
• Knowledge of normal ECG waveform components including P wave, QRS complex, T wave, PR interval, and QTc and their normal ranges.
• Familiarity with Holter monitor attachment and data download procedures for 24-hour ambulatory ECG analysis.
• Ability to recognise and escalate critical ECG findings including acute MI patterns, complete heart block, and life-threatening arrhythmias.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification preferred for assisting in stress test emergencies and patient resuscitation scenarios.
• Good Tamil and English communication skills for team coordination and client interaction in Coimbatore.
