📌 Key Responsibilities

• Receive and analyse customer briefs for new packaging structures and translate requirements into feasible pack designs
• Develop sample prototypes and co-ordinate material procurement for initial development trials
• Run or oversee production trials on laminators, slitters, and form-fill-seal machines to validate new structures
• Test prototype performance for seal strength, drop integrity, barrier properties, and shelf life against customer specifications
• Prepare cost estimates and material comparisons to support commercial discussions with customers
• Document NPD project progress, trial results, and approved specifications in the NPD tracker
• Coordinate with prepress and artwork teams to ensure pack dimensions and dieline accuracy for new structures

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• Walk me through the NPD process from receiving a customer brief to approving a new flexible pack structure for production
• How do you estimate the cost of a new 3-layer flexible laminate structure before a trial is run?
• Describe a shelf life study you have designed or participated in for a food packaging application
• What production trial protocols do you follow when validating a new laminate on a form-fill-seal machine?
• How do you manage a situation where a customer's barrier requirement cannot be met within their target cost?
• Explain how FSSAI packaging material regulations affect your choice of materials for food-grade NPD
• What documentation do you maintain throughout an NPD project from brief to production release?
• Good Tamil and English communication skills for team coordination and client interaction in Coimbatore.

🏆 Certifications and Qualifications

Diploma or B.E. in Printing Technology, Packaging Technology, or Mechanical Engineering; BIS packaging standard knowledge (IS 1476 for corrugated boards); ISO 9001 internal auditor; Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for prepress; Esko ArtPro or Preps for packaging prepress; FSSAI packaging material compliance for food-grade; CTP (Computer-to-Plate) operation; flexo, gravure, or offset press operator skill; EHS and factory act for safety roles
