📌 Key Responsibilities

• Position patients correctly for digital X-ray examinations of the chest, abdomen, skeletal system, and skull as per radiologist or physician request.
• Operate digital radiography (DR) and computed radiography (CR) systems to acquire diagnostic quality images with optimal exposure parameters.
• Apply radiation protection measures including lead shielding for patients and bystanders, ensure personnel dosimetry badge is worn, and follow AERB safety protocols.
• Assess image quality immediately after acquisition for diagnostic acceptability and repeat exposure only when necessary to minimise patient radiation dose.
• Upload acquired images to the PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) with correct patient demographics and accession numbers for radiologist reporting.
• Assist the radiologist during fluoroscopy procedures including barium swallow and barium enema examinations by preparing patient and contrast media.
• Maintain the X-ray room equipment by performing daily warm-up procedures, cleaning detectors, and logging any equipment faults for biomedical engineering attention.

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• Diploma in Radiography (DRIT) or B.Sc. Radiology from a recognised institution with AERB radiation safety training certification.
• Proficiency in patient positioning for chest PA, lateral, and AP views, skeletal radiography, and abdomen plain films.
• Knowledge of radiation protection principles including distance, shielding, and collimation to minimise patient and occupational exposure.
• Familiarity with digital radiography systems including CR plate handling and DR flat-panel detector operation and quality assurance procedures.
• Understanding of PACS image upload workflows, patient registration, and accession number assignment in radiology information systems.
• Awareness of AERB licensing requirements applicable to X-ray unit operation and mandatory personnel dosimetry monitoring.
• Ability to identify and report equipment faults and maintain daily X-ray room safety checklists as per AERB guidelines.
• Good Tamil and English communication skills for team coordination and client interaction in Coimbatore.
