📌 Key Responsibilities

• Lead new business development for ocean freight, air freight, customs clearance, and value-added logistics services for Chennai-based exporters and importers
• Build and manage a pipeline of new freight prospects across Chennai's key export sectors including auto components, textiles, pharma, electronics, and engineering goods
• Lead responses to freight tenders and RFQs from large corporate and multinational shippers by coordinating solution design with operations and pricing teams
• Define and execute trade lane strategy for key export and import corridors handled by the company in alignment with the global network and overseas agent partnerships
• Coach and manage a team of freight sales executives to develop their prospecting, quotation, and conversion skills and achieve their individual sales targets
• Establish relationships with industry associations, CII, FIEO, CHEMEXCIL, AEPC, and export promotion councils to access new freight prospect networks in Chennai
• Track and report on the revenue pipeline, quote conversion rate, new account acquisition, and business development spend versus return for the sales manager or VP
• Represent the freight forwarding company at industry events, trade exhibitions, and shipping conferences to build brand presence and generate new freight business leads

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• MBA from a recognized institution; Graduate with exceptional freight sales track record also considered
• 4 - 10 Years of experience in freight sales or business development at a private freight forwarding company with demonstrated new account acquisition results
• Proven track record of developing new ocean and air freight accounts with verifiable revenue contribution from new clients
• Strong knowledge of Chennai's export and import trade ecosystem including key industries, trade lanes, and freight volume patterns
• Experience managing freight tender and RFQ responses for large corporate and multinational shippers in Chennai
• Good leadership and coaching skills to develop a team of freight sales executives for new business development
• Network and relationships within Chennai's exporter, importer, or trade association community is a significant advantage in hiring
• Good Tamil and English communication skills for team coordination and client interaction in Chennai.
