📌 Key Responsibilities

• Own the complete P and L for the Chennai freight forwarding branch including revenue from ocean freight, air freight, customs clearance, and value-added services against the branch operating cost
• Lead the branch team across sales, operations, documentation, customs clearance, and customer service functions and align them on shared revenue and service quality targets
• Manage and retain the branch's largest shipper and consignee client relationships at the commercial director and CXO level for contract renewal and volume growth
• Drive new business development by personally leading large tender responses, developing strategic client relationships, and expanding into new trade lanes with the overseas agent network
• Ensure operational excellence across documentation, customs clearance, and shipment handling by working with the operations manager to reduce errors and improve turnaround times
• Maintain full regulatory compliance across customs, GST, IATA licensing, and staff certification requirements at the Chennai branch
• Develop and retain key branch talent by conducting performance reviews, identifying skill gaps, and creating development plans for senior operations and sales staff
• Prepare and present monthly branch P and L, business development pipeline, and operations performance report to regional or country leadership

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• MBA from a recognized institution; Graduate with 10 or more years of freight forwarding leadership experience also considered
• 6 - 14 Years of experience in freight forwarding with at least 3 years as a branch manager or area head with full P and L ownership
• Demonstrated track record of managing a freight forwarding branch P and L with revenue of Rs.5 crore or more per annum
• Strong commercial leadership skills combining business development capability with operations oversight and client relationship management
• Experience managing multi-function teams of 20 or more people across sales, operations, documentation, and customs in a freight forwarding environment
• Sound knowledge of ocean freight, air freight, customs clearance, and trade compliance services to lead and represent the branch to clients and partners
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills for engaging with client CXOs, overseas agent partners, customs authorities, and regional or country leadership
• Good Tamil and English communication skills for team coordination and client interaction in Chennai.
