📌 Key Responsibilities

• Classify dangerous goods shipments using the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations manual and identify the correct UN number, proper shipping name, class, and packing group
• Verify shipper's declarations for dangerous goods air cargo for accuracy, completeness, and IATA DGR 2020 compliance before acceptance
• Check packaging, labeling, and marking of dangerous goods consignments against IATA DGR packing instructions and quantity limits
• Coordinate with airlines for dangerous goods acceptance, state permissions for restricted articles, and special stowage requirements on the aircraft
• Prepare dangerous goods handling notifications and advise shipper corrections when DGR declaration errors or packaging non-compliance is identified
• Maintain records of all dangerous goods shipments handled including UN numbers, quantities, shippers, consignees, and airline acceptance confirmations for compliance files
• Coordinate IATA DGR awareness and refresher training for internal operations and documentation staff as required by the IATA training calendar
• Stay updated on IATA DGR revisions published annually and communicate changes in regulations, new restricted articles, and state and operator variations to the operations team

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• Graduate degree from a recognized institution in any stream
• 0 - 3 Years of experience in dangerous goods handling at a freight forwarding company, airline, or cargo terminal; freshers with IATA DGR certification are considered
• Valid IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) Initial or Recurrent certification from an IATA-approved training provider
• Ability to classify dangerous goods using IATA DGR UN number list and identify packing group, class, and label requirements independently
• Knowledge of IATA DGR quantity limits, packing instructions, inner packaging requirements, and state and operator variations
• Familiarity with shipper's declaration formats and common errors that lead to airline rejection of dangerous goods consignments
• Attention to detail and a safety-first mindset for dangerous goods compliance, as errors can have serious safety consequences for aircraft and ground staff
• Good Tamil and English communication skills for team coordination and client interaction in Chennai.
