📌 Key Responsibilities
- Operate induction or cupola furnaces for melting steel scrap and pig iron to required composition
- Prepare and weigh charge materials including scrap, pig iron, and ferro-alloys as per heat schedule
- Monitor furnace temperature, power, and melt level using control panels and pyrometers
- Collect melt samples for spectrometer analysis and adjust charge to meet grade specifications
- Skim slag and dross from molten metal surface prior to tapping
- Tap molten metal into ladles or moulds following safe pouring procedures
- Carry out furnace lining inspection, maintenance, and minor repairs during shutdown periods
🎓 Qualifications and Requirements
- Which furnace type have you operated - induction, cupola, or arc furnace?
- Have you prepared charge sheets and calculated scrap and alloy quantities?
