📌 Key Responsibilities

• Operate optical emission spectrometer (OES) for chemical composition analysis of incoming and outgoing steel and alloy samples
• Conduct tensile, yield, elongation, and hardness tests on metal coupons using UTM and hardness testers
• Prepare metallographic samples by sectioning, mounting, grinding, polishing, and etching for microstructure examination
• Examine microstructures under optical microscope for grain size, phase analysis, and defect identification
• Perform wet chemical analysis for elements not covered by OES where required
• Maintain lab records, calibration logs, traceability documentation, and test reports per ISO 17025 or company QMS
• Coordinate with production and quality teams on material test failures and non-conformance reports

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• Have you operated an OES spectrometer for metal composition analysis?
• Which tensile testing machines and hardness testers have you used?
• Have you prepared metallographic samples for microstructure analysis?
• Are you familiar with BIS, ASTM, or EN standards for steel material testing?
• Have you maintained calibration records and traceability documentation in a test lab?
• Can you identify common microstructural defects in steel under an optical microscope?
• Have you supported material rejections and NCR documentation based on lab results?
