📌 Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate incoming raw material chemical composition and mechanical properties against grade specifications and customer requirements
• Perform microstructure analysis using optical microscopy and SEM to characterise grain size, phase distribution, and defect morphology
• Conduct failure analysis investigations on rejected or field-returned components using fractography, EDS, and root cause methodology
• Define heat treatment cycles and verify metallurgical response through hardness profiling and microstructure review
• Provide metallurgical support for welding procedure qualification and dissimilar metal joining challenges
• Review and update material specifications, approved vendor lists, and incoming inspection criteria
• Prepare metallurgical test reports, failure analysis reports, and technical presentations for customers and management

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• Which metal alloy systems have you worked with - carbon steels, alloy steels, stainless steels, or non-ferrous?
• Have you conducted failure analysis using fractographic examination and SEM-EDS?
• What microstructural defects have you identified and what remediation actions did you recommend?
• How do you verify that a heat treatment process has achieved the target microstructure?
• Have you provided metallurgical support for welding procedure qualification?
• Are you familiar with BIS, ASTM, DIN, or EN material specifications for steel grades?
• Have you interacted directly with customers or suppliers on metallurgical queries or rejections?
