📌 Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the company's ocean freight and air freight rate cards including shipping line tariffs, NVOCC rates, and airline tariffs and update them when rates change
• Procure spot rates from shipping lines, NVOCCs, and airlines for non-standard lanes, high-value tenders, and urgent shipper requirements
• Prepare freight quotations for the sales team by applying the rate card or spot rate with agreed markup and service charge components
• Track rate validity periods for all carrier agreements and flag expiry dates to the operations and sales teams to avoid booking at lapsed rates
• Analyze freight market trends including FAK rate movements, PSS surcharges, BAF surcharges, and airline fuel surcharge changes to support pricing decisions
• Support the sales team with competitive benchmarking by comparing the company's rate levels with prevailing market rates on key trade lanes
• Coordinate with overseas agents for destination freight charges, local handling charges, and delivery charges for door-to-door quotations
• Prepare monthly pricing MIS reports covering quote conversion rates, margin-per-shipment analysis, and rate card competitiveness across top trade lanes

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• Graduate degree from a recognized institution in any stream
• 0 - 3 Years of experience in freight pricing, tariff management, or logistics back-office roles at a freight forwarding company; freshers are considered
• Understanding of ocean freight rate structures including FAK, named account rates, BAF, PSS, THC, and other surcharges
• Familiarity with air freight tariff components including base rate, fuel surcharge, security surcharge, and origin handling charges
• Good numerical accuracy and MS Excel proficiency for rate card management, margin calculation, and quotation preparation
• Ability to procure spot rates from shipping lines and airlines and apply them with appropriate markup for client quotations
• Organized approach to tracking rate validity, carrier agreement expiry dates, and trade lane competitiveness for the pricing function
• Good Tamil and English communication skills for team coordination and client interaction in Chennai.
