📌 Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute the logistics for ODC (over dimensional cargo), breakbulk, and heavy lift project cargo shipments by sea, road, and air from origin to project site
• Coordinate with shipping lines, charter brokers, and specialized vessel operators for breakbulk and heavy lift vessel booking and stowage planning
• Liaise with Chennai Port Trust, customs, and port authority for special berth allocation, crane support, and customs examination for project cargo consignments
• Arrange road transport for ODC cargo using flatbed trailers, low-bed trailers, and escorts and obtain route surveys and RTO permits for oversized loads
• Prepare project cargo documentation including packing specifications, lashing and securing certificates, survey reports, and import BoE with correct HS codes for capital goods
• Coordinate marine insurance for project cargo shipments and ensure coverage aligns with the cargo value, handling risk, and transit route
• Manage sub-contractors including specialized rigging companies, crane operators, and heavy transport vendors for project cargo installation and delivery at site
• Prepare and submit project cargo progress reports to the project manager and client covering shipment status, clearance updates, and delivery milestones

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• Graduate degree from a recognized institution; Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering is an advantage for capital goods project cargo
• 1 - 5 Years of experience in project cargo logistics at a freight forwarding company, shipping line, or port handling company
• Hands-on experience coordinating ODC, breakbulk, or heavy lift cargo shipments including vessel booking, port handling, and road transport arrangement
• Knowledge of Chennai Port Trust berth allocation and cargo handling procedures for non-containerized breakbulk and ODC shipments
• Familiarity with RTO permit requirements for oversized road transport in Tamil Nadu and route survey procedures for heavy transport movements
• Understanding of project cargo documentation including lashing certificates, survey reports, and capital goods import BoE filing
• Good coordination and communication skills for managing multiple vendors and agencies involved in complex project cargo supply chains
• Good Tamil and English communication skills for team coordination and client interaction in Chennai.

IATA Cargo Agent certification for air freight roles; CHA (Customs House Agent) licence for customs clearance roles; FIATA Diploma for freight forwarding operations roles; Diploma or Graduate in Logistics and Supply Chain Management; knowledge of ICEGATE, ICES, and SEZ customs procedures for customs roles; B/L (Bill of Lading), AWB (Air Waybill), and shipping instruction processing for documentation roles; HS code classification and duty calculation for tariff and customs roles; IncoTerms 2020 knowledge for commercial freight roles; IATA DGR for dangerous goods air cargo roles
