📌 Key Responsibilities

• Assess the purity, weight, and market value of gold ornaments brought in by customers for loan collateral
• Operate karat meters and conduct acid testing to verify gold purity as per company standards
• Inspect ornaments for hallmarking, stone weight deduction, and identify any adulteration or fraud risk
• Prepare accurate valuation reports and gold appraisal certificates for each loan application
• Coordinate with the gold loan officer to determine loan eligibility based on appraised value
• Maintain proper documentation and photographic records of pledged ornaments as per company policy
• Stay updated on daily gold price movements and company loan-to-value (LTV) guidelines

🎓 Qualifications and Requirements

• Diploma in Gemology, Jewellery Technology, or equivalent; hands-on gold appraisal experience also considered
• 1-5 years of experience in gold appraisal, jewellery valuation, or a related trade
• Proficiency in karat meter operation, acid testing, and hallmarking verification methods
• Strong attention to detail and integrity given the high-value nature of collateral assessment
• Knowledge of current gold market rates and company loan-to-value policies
• Ability to identify adulterated or fraudulent ornaments through visual and technical inspection
• Good documentation skills for preparing valuation reports and certificates
• Good Tamil and English communication skills for team coordination and client interaction in Coimbatore.

Any Graduate for most branch roles; IIBF (Indian Institute of Banking and Finance) certification for banking/NBFC roles preferred; Gold appraisal and hallmarking certification for appraiser roles; NISM certification for credit and risk roles; RBI-mandated KYC/AML training for all customer-facing roles; Diploma in Gemology or Jewellery Technology an advantage for appraiser roles
